Position Overview :

• Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms and all other corresponding unit areas.
• Will follow prescribed departmental cleaning standards in conjunction with infection control and safety procedures.

Responsibilities :

• Sweeps, dust mops, and wet mops
• Vacuums, spot cleans walls, cleans glass / ledges
• Sanitizes patient room surfaces, sanitizes bathrooms
• Performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms
• Cleans equipment and notifies the supervisor or lead person of equipment requiring repair. Reports safety hazards to supervisor or lead person.
• Collects trash from patient rooms, nurses' stations, ancillary areas
• Pulls trash outside around the grounds of the facility
• Cleans and sanitizes ancillary areas
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or reported.
• Performs any other tasks which may be assigned by the supervisor or lead person.

Qualifications :

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Good communication skills. Capable of operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums
• Knowledge : 3 months 1 year of environmental services experience in a hospital, high school diploma or equivalent GED (preferred).
• Skills : Follow oral and written instructions. Good communication. Capable of operating heavy cleaning equipment such as vacuums, housekeeping carts, etc.
